MMU’s Doctor of Engineering Program
With the increasing demand of skilled workers to carry out industrial Research and Development (R&D) works in microelectronics and telecommunication, Multimedia University (MMU) has taken the initiative to provide an opportunity for engineers to further their studies, expose themselves with an in-depth research work and enhance their value.
Called the Doctor of Engineering program, two main specialization courses, namely DEng of Telecommunication and DEng of Microelectronics are available, with the next intake happening in June 2008. With both the working professionals and engineers as the main targeted students, both courses are offered on part time basis, with classes held on Friday nights and Saturdays. The courses last for 4 years.
For both programs, applicants need to have a minimum Masters degree in the field of Electronics Engineering, Physics, Material Science, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics or any field related to physical science and electronics. At least 2 years of working experience is required, on top of the academic qualification. The part time doctorate program is offered with aim to provide a framework for the development of doctorate-level graduates based on commercially relevant Research and Development (R&D) works in the field of telecommunication and microelectronics.
The industrial focused researches will come together with some intensive education and training in education and training in technical and business studies to advance the graduates’ research and development capabilities.
